Wow - He’s Gone Off The Deep End…
One of the interesting things about blogs is that people’s views change over time. What was once a good blog can become a crappy one or even change the content it’s producing on a daily basis…
Evidence of this can be seen on my blog as I went through a period of time where I put in quite a few affiliate links. Not that there is anything, bad, perse - about affiliate links but it really wasn’t and shouldn’t be the focus of my blog.
So what point am I trying to make? Well, quite often people have blogrolls where they point others to blogs that they ‘recommend’ or read frequently.
Normally, when a blog becomes crap, I simply remove it and move on.
Occasionally, however, there are times when the content becomes so outrageous that they deserve to be pointed out - in a nofollow way
Who am I talking about? Well, it’s James Brausch’s blog which was once a decent place to find some good information on forming an internet business.
Over the past year I’ve watched his blog go downhill as he schlepped his products more and more. It got to the point that there really wasn’t any useful information in his posts - it was simply a way to promote his products.
Of course, everyone is entitled to run their business as they see fit - and he’s probably making a decent amount of money from doing it.
However, having said that, one thing that he’s done is turned his old domain of James Brausch dot com into James Brausch dot org and then eventually making that a ‘personal’ blog where he delivers his … well, to be kind … rants.
Incidentally he even moved his new business blog to a new domain of diego norte dot com which I find highly amusing.
Basically, he determined through his testing that the name diego norte was something that would get him higher sales. He even went so far as to put a different picture on the page letting folks assume it’s him.
Nifty trick I suppose and you can find correlations in other types of business with pen names but usually that’s done to hide the identity of someone not to ‘fake them out’ so that they buy more of the stuff you’re schlepping.
Ok. So I’m starting to belabor the point. Obviously you can see i’ve removed his blog from my bloglist and I’m also not going to point out his products anymore - some of them might be ok but I don’t agree with his personal rants or the way he’s doing business so he’s OUTTA HERE!
The lesson to be learned is to be careful in what you do with your blog and how you want to attract people. Some things you do will come back to haunt you
