Limited Quantities Available
I’ve been thinking about this particular topic for the past few weeks as I’ve watched several new products get launched.
First, there was John Reese’s seminar.
Then there was Internet Marketing Explained.
Followed by Relationship Income.
And a few other programs as well. Now, what is really starting to annoy me is the use of scarcity.
As you may or may not know, when you limit the amount of a product that’s available, it creates scarcity. Couple that with huge demand and you get people that flock to buy the package.
Now, I understand that this is a marketing ploy and it does work very well. What bothers me, however, is that the same people that will say “We want to help as many people as possible and give back” are also the ones that limit the amount of their product that’s available.
There was one package that boasted of a list of 100,000 people. And they limited the number of sales to 500.
Riiiiiight. 500 people out of 100,000 are going to get in. Sure, that makes a lot of sense to me. Not!
Now, I realize that this probably isn’t going to change anytime soon but it sure would be nice if it did.
What do you think?
