Keyword Stuffing and Cities - Oh My!

Here’s an older trick but it was quite useful in the day. I saw a program that’s about to be sold as part of a package that uses this trick but I’m getting ahead of myself.

Two years ago when I first started doing some spamming, I created a script that would create sites like this…hmmm, I was going to show you a live site but it looks like I broke it sometime ago while copying some files around.

Well, at any rate, the site would take a url like this:

http://find-a-lawyer.mydomain.com/state/city.htm

It would load a template on the topic of lawyers and then replace tokens scattered throughout the page to put the city and state on that page.

Amazingly, the site did rather well. Of course, my definition of well might be different than yours. My definition is a site that costs me less than one hour to put up and that will consistently generate $1 a day in revenue. If the site lasts a year then I just earned $365 for that hour of my time.

The nice thing is the first site takes the longest. All the other sites after that are much easier to put up. The harder part is getting these things indexed and avoiding duplicate content penalties. But, if you’re smart about it, even that can be done.

With a little bit of searching, you can find a list of cities throughout the world as well as the countries that they’re in. From that point it won’t take long to generate a keyword list in the billions…

Think about it…

  • city plumbing
  • city lawyer
  • city landscaping
  • etc. ad infinitum

Honestly, all you’d need at that point is someone to write you an article or two, put it in your template, sprinkle a few tokens throughout and then simply get your phonebook.

LOL - It’s what I did and it was rather effective.

I’ve since moved on to other page building techniques but perhaps I should revisit this type of spam in the near future with what I know now…

Great question and after 30 minutes of searching I still can't find the link to the web page.  It was for a package of 10 programs that you get the source for to resell and was a bit pricey so I didn't link it.

    Sorry about that!

Sprinkling tokens - I believe I covered this in another post in the black hat section recently.

Here is one of the advanced versions of the script in action - http:// www.w ebstarindia.com/hosting/sitemap - http://www.w ebstarindia.com/sitemap1.asp It even search the name of the city in wikipedia and copy the wikipedia text about the city onto the page. Thus creating different content on almost all of the pages. If anyone finds the link to this type of script please let me know.
