How to Hack Digg for One Way Links

Although this title says it’s for Digg, this trick will actually work for any social bookmarking system like Digg. The key here is that you want to remain under the radar as much as possible.

Our goal in this instance is to get as many one way links to our site as we can possibly get. More links equals more higher rankings and higher rankings equal more money!

Show me the Bling!

Ok. So how do we do this?

Well, obviously, the first thing you need to do is setup an account. I’d recommend using a throwaway e-mail for this.

Next you need a program to cloak links. Now, you can do this with modifying your .htaccess file but I prefer to use something like GoTryThis which gives me the ability to track how many clicks I’ve gotten through that link. You’ll understand why this is important shortly.

Now that you’ve gotten some type of program to track those links, you need to find some gimp story to promote. I recommend Yahoo news and for Digg I recommend political stuff related to Bush. These are much less likely to get any type of attention. You want links that will not be noticed by most people.

Another fortunate thing for you is that the majority of people don’t bother reading the actual pages that Digg links to. They simply look at the title and description and make a determination as to whether or not they want to digg that article or not.

Once you’ve got an article that you’re going to digg, you need to setup a redirect through GoTryThis or whatever program you’re using. Make sure that you redirect to the article not the site you really want to get links to.

Now go to digg and enter a non-descriptive title (make it real but something that you would not want to click on). Enter the description of the article and submit it.

Here’s where tracking comes into play. Wait for a week and make sure that you’re getting less than 5 clicks per day through that link. The fewer the better. Once you’re to that point you can go ahead and change the location that GoTryThis points to. Instead of pointing to that referral site, you can now change it so that you’re pointing to the site you’d like to really promote with some good one way links.

Over time, if you do this enough, the one way links will begin to accrue some power.

You can use this little gem for things like comment pages - wait until you get approved - then change the link.
