Google Destkop and Windows Vista
About two weeks ago the sound on my computer mysteriously died. Various reinstalls of audio drivers, sound card drivers, switching to sound on the motherboard all failed.
Time to break out the Dell credit card I hadn’t used in a couple of years and I upgraded to a swank Quad Core XPS.
After spending a few days upgrading all of my software, I’ve noticed a few odd things. One of which I’m hoping one of my readers has seen and knows a solution for…
I use FireFox 2.0 right now. I happen to like it along with the various add-ons that you can get for it. Especially the web developer extensions. Those are worth gold in my opinion.
Anyhow, I also use the Google Desktop (groan if you like about it’s alleged security flaws, I happen to like it). One of the gadgets I use for Google Desktop is the Google Desktop News Gadget.
Unfortunately, even though I’ve set my default browser as FireFox, anytime I click on links within the Google Desktop News Gadget it brings up Internet Explorer instead! It’s quite annoying and I’m hoping someone out there has a solution!
G-Man
P.S. Here’s a picture of my new system. It’s a monster desktop coming in at about 3 inches taller than my previous XPS and almost 4 inches deeper. The blue lights look kinda cool coming out of it especially during late night coding sessions.

I have been combing the web for weeks with this same problem to no avail. Did you really get the problem fixed? How? Man, this is so frustrating…
