BotCandy - Update!

Steve Tytler - the owner of BotCandy contacted me with his disappointment about me slamming BotCandy and his sales letter.

For what it’s worth, my intention was not to slam the sales letter - personally, I think it was a well done sales letter.

What I was trying to point out was that there are a metric ton of page generators out there.

Every one of them has some new ‘feature(s)’ that will allegedly allow you to avoid footprints with the search engines.

Most of them have some type of token system. What is that? A token is merely a way of putting some text in an article, feed, or other content like !ADSENSE_BLOCK! and then the software replaces !ADSENSE_BLOCK! with the text you want it to.

Quite a few of them have some method of putting in RSS feeds. To be quite honest, I don’t think RSS feeds are the way to go. It’s duplicate content and it’s not going to help your page unless you’ve got some unique content on the page.

Now, to BotCandy’s defense, it is more of an article publication system in that you put articles into it and it will then publish those articles over time.

You, could, just as easily use wordpress and a free rss script to accomplish the same results so again, I fail to see what makes BotCandy so great and wonderful.

Also, in Steve’s defense, when I contacted him a couple of weeks ago, he offered to extend the period of time I could get a refund from 48 hours to 5 days. See below:

We are offering a full 100% money back guarantee during the first 48 hours. You can get into the training area and see how to customize templates, and you can look at the templates we provide you to get started.

If you don’t like what you see, I will give you all of your money back. I have no interest in selling BotCandy to anybody who doesn’t like it or want it.

I will go even further …

If you don’t think 48 hours is long enough to give you a fair “test drive” of BotCandy, I will give you an extra 72 hours at no charge.

That’s 5 full days to evaluate BotCandy.

I’ll be quite honest with you and let you know that I didn’t take him up on the offer for several reasons:

  1. I have a plethora of page generation software.
  2. It’s not the software that matters - it’s how you use it.
  3. As I stated before, I’m not a fan of RSS feeds and scripts that use them on their sites to help get better ranking suck (imo).
  4. There appeared to be too much involved in getting BotCandy to actually work over a period of time. When I build a site, I don’t want to spend hours on it. I want to spend minutes and have a 200-300 page site that will last 6 months to a year. The longer I spend on a site, the less money that I will make on it - that’s purely from a hourly perspective and it’s also based on MFA (Made for Adsense/Arbitrage) sites.
  5. The biggest reason was the joke of a guarantee. Who in the hell offers a guarantee of 48 hours? Or even five days? Do you honestly believe that is enough time for someone to determine if that product is actually going to work for them? I would assume that Steve believes BotCandy works as advertised but is not concerned about actually ranking at all in the search engines. Why do I say this? Because if he actually cared about that then he would give people a longer period of time to evaluate the software to determine if the pages would rank or not. Yes, It’s certainly possible to get your site to rank in 1 week for a 2 billion result term on Google but it’s not something the average person can do.

It was because of those reasons that I gave BotCandy the thumbs down. Now, I could have (and probably) should have gone into greater detail on my reasoning.

As far as the sales letter goes, I think it’s helpful to people to publish these sales letters. Quite a few of you may never actually see these. And some of you may actually be building a swipe file of sales letters and things you like in them.

If you’ve used BotCandy, think I’m right, wrong or just plain crazy, make some comments and let me know! I’ve been known to change my mind when people point out a better argument. That includes you Steve. Go ahead and post. I’m not going to ridicule you
